The Phases of Style Coaching : Your Wardrobe Preparation

Alex & Lucy continue their conversation on evaluating your wardrobe. Getting prepared.

Alex & Lucy continue their conversation on evaluating, planning and building your wardrobe and the preparation steps.

Alex & Lucy talk about getting prepared.

They haven’t actually talked about going through your clothes yet – that’s next time!

It’s so important to be prepared before you start looking through your clothes.

So here is a summary of Lucy’s preparation suggestions

  • know what you want to achieve.
  • have ready what you need – bin bags, hangers etc
  • clean cupboards and drawers as you go.
  • wear something easy to get on and take off for trying items on.
  • a full length mirror.
  • a phone for taking photos of outfits created.
  • a notebook to write 2 lists.  What you need to buy.  What you don’t need to buy.
  • how are you going to do it?  Take everything out at once?  Category by category?
  • how long are you going to do it for?  Over a period of days, weeks, months?
  • which piles are you going to create as you go along?  Memories, charity, alterations/mending, try on, not sure etc.

And most importantly.

How are you going to celebrate your success?

  • you finished a drawer.
  • you sorted your socks.
  • you actually made a start after saying you’re going to do it for 2 years.

Lucy’s approach was very much personalised to me – my needs, my desires and my preferences, while also very carefully educating me about myself and finding a style solution that feels great. I never imagined I could feel effortlessly (and comfortably) smart, but Lucy has shown me how it is possible, in a style that is still entirely mine.
